The Island Of Silk (Koh Dach) is a place that I felt in love. it is located just a few kilometers away from Phnom Penh.I can stay on this island for weeks without never getting bored.
A 2 or 3 days stay in Koh Dach should be a good duration for the travellers of the touristic triangle Phnom Penh / Siem Reap / Sihanoukville. It allows you to get in close touch with the traditional Cambodia without any special effort.
Of course a stay in Koh Dach willl attract travellers un search of a special discover, where nature, interculture, and interdependance get together in a single poetry.
A chinese philosopher used to say
“an image equals a thousand words”
I therefore invite you to discover this place on my personal blog.
What else should be said ?
- live a lot of special moments at sunrise time on the Mekhong, - walk to the local morning market, - visit the school and meet the children
- go to the dispensary or to the temple and have a chat with nurses or monks.
- Then, when morning time has gone, rent a fisherboat and go for a trip on the river, or rent a bike and pedal this paradiselike island.
- Then, let yourself go easy, just forget what you are, in this long and unperceivable disappearing of your ego which allows you this fabulous meeting with “the other”.
I’ve always wanted to visit you, but have been unable to find the way from the main highway to the ferry landing. Where does one turn off the main highway.
I know there are boats that depart from the river front, but at $10/per person, I can’t believe the locals on the island can afford that much. Much thanks for your help in advance.
Also, how much is a room in your guesthouse?

OH YES ,You have two main Ferry…and two secondary Ferry.
When you arrive fom Kompong Cham, you stop or turn in Kadey Cha (approximatively 12 KLM before Japanese bridge), just before an important temple …For one person, you pay 1000 riels one way!
You can take also a ferry in PREAK Leap …500 riels (3 KLM before the japanese bridge)…After, for each way, you must take a moto dop…We are near the WAT Samaki , on KBAL Ko village…

je connais cette ile, pour y etre allée en 2008, et c’est un vrai paradis, je le confirme.
On peut facilement y aller depuis Phnom penh en tuk tuk, et on se retrouve dans un autre monde, authentique et vrai, avec des gens souriants et accueillants. J’y ai d’ailleurs fait plein de photos, j’ai dormi dans la seule guest house de l’ile, géniale,et garde un souvenir ému de mon passage là-bas.
